2012 Valued Volunteer

Sherry Bullock

Sherry & John Bullock

Sherry Bullock is a Williams Lake Stampede Association-director and the association treasurer, which gives her the 12-month responsibility of all of the financials (the past 10-12 years) for the association. She also she works full-time at Tolko Industries Ltd. (Woodlands Accounting Supervisor), is married to John, mother of two adult sons, Michael & Matthew. With all that, you really wonder how Sherry ekes out the time to volunteer. The answer – she brought her family with her; John from the start, the boys, at various times.

Stampede President, Fred Thomas, “Sherry has capably and efficiently looked after all of our financials for years, she spends many hours at the task keeping the accounts straight during the days of Stampede and beyond. As for John – whatever you need a hand with, whatever needs done, he is always there – ready and willing to help, quietly, without any fanfare. He’s really inconspicuous, wonderful volunteer who seems happy in the background.”

During Stampede week, things get crazy for Sherry as she organizes, compiles and distributes cash floats to each of the many venues, then counts and records all receipts at days-end, often up until the wee-hours; she also does a shift in the Stampede concession each day, serving meals. For the last two years she has taken the reins of the ‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink’ campaign-fund raiser for Breast Cancer held on a designated day of the rodeo. Sherry was also on the Stampede Queen/committee in the past.

John is also constantly on the go at the Stampede. He organizes and distributes all the beer (for the beer gardens) from the reefer truck on the weekend and takes a daily-shift in the concession among with other things.

Over the years Sherry and John (family) have dedicated thousands of hours to benefit the Williams Lake Stampede Association which we greatly appreciate – they are highly valued-volunteers!
